The Adventures of Broughton Bear are written by local author Susan Atkinson, who lives and writes in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia. She was inspired by her three young children, as they discovered the forests and lakes of Nova Scotia from their family log cabin. When Susan was looking for a name to call her friendly bear, she asked her children for ideas. The name Broughton comes from a three year olds imagination, pronounced Brow-ten.
